A device for generating a successively positive and negative, galvanically isolated bipolar voltage by sending two kinds of pulse trains with differing amplitudes through a single transformer (30) with a single primary and a single secondary, whereby only positive swings of the first kind of signal and only negative swings of the second kind of signal are rectified in an output capacitor (7). The device may be used to control high-voltage power semiconductors.
