This assembly has a cathode (41) producing electron beams, and electrodes (21, 22) each comprising a cylindrical element (21A, 22A) with non-circular cross-section and a plate (21B, 22B) comprising at least one hole (25, 26) for passage of the central electron beam, and the diameter of the hole in the plate of one electrode, measured perpendicularly to the longitudinal axis of the elliptical cross-section of the cylindrical elements, being different from the diameter of the hole in the plate of the other electrode, measured perpendicularly to the longitudinal direction of the cross-section of the cylindrical elements.
