Gas bubble detection system for transformer oil-cooling circuit - responds to electrical discharge between spaced transformers inserted in transformer cooling oil circulation path

The gas bubble detection system uses a number of electrodes (9) lying at different potentials incorporated in a circulation pipe for the transformer cooling oil, coupled to a discharge detection circuit (13) providing a signal indicating the presence of gas bubbles. The electrodes (9) can be coupled to a DC or AC source (25) and can be provided as 2 or more sets of spaced parallel plates between which the cooling oil is passed, or as a series of coaxial cylinders. The electrodes (9) are pref. inserted in the oil circuit on the suction side of a circulation pump. USE - For detection of gas bubbles in transformer cooling oil for prevention of damage.
