The synchromesh ring with conical or cylindrical friction surface is mfd. by prefabricating a friction layer from sintered material and joined to a support ring. First, a moulded self-supporting (7), resistant to pressure, is formed from compressed sintering powder (1) by initial sintering or bonding. The presintered ring is then pressed into the support ring and sintered to form the friction layer.
