摘要 In a light guide splicing process in which the light guides (1a,b) are inserted in a positioning device (20,21) and a aligned relative to one another for prodn. of a spliced joint between their ends (2a,b), the novelty is that (a) after alignment, the positions of the light guide ends (2a,b) are detected by image recording equipment (13a,b) and stored as initial position data; (b) the splicing operation is monitored by evaluating an image signal from the image recording equipment (13a,b) (c) positional change of the melting light guide ends (2a,b) relative to their position at the start of the splicing operation, is detected during splicing; (d) the stored and detected position data are compared; and (e) the resulting comparison data, representing deviation from the initial alignment, are evaluated. ADVANTAGE - Positional changes of the light guide ends are displayed during the splicing operation and thermal splicing can be carried out with automaticallyu optimied splicing parameters.
