The data transfer unit has separate interconnection channels for the information bus system (IB- full lines) and the instruction data system (KB- interrupted lines) to connect the functional entities which are: A central information channel unit (ZIE), a central subscriber data preparation unit (ZTE) and a central monitoring unit (ZUE); furthermore there are two peripheral units, the multiple connector unit for telephone and data subscribers (AE-FE/D) and the multiple connector unit for the packaged data network (AE-DPV). These connect to a central interconnect unit (ZVE) via adaptor and switch units (ANS-AE-TE/D, and ANS-AE-DPV). Again, the central units (ZIE, ZTE, ZUE) connect to the aforementioned via separate adaptor and switch units (ANS-ZIE, ANS - ZTE, ANS-ZUE). Within all these terminals and switching units, separate information and control channels can be distinguished. The internal multiplexed data transfers occurs in package lengths of up to 1000 bytes at data rates of up to 500 kbits/s.
