PURPOSE:To provide a rotary encoder which can cope with an AC servomotor having different number of poles. CONSTITUTION:The rotary encoder comprises means for outputting A- and B-phase incremental signals having a 90-degree phase difference, number-of-poles changeover means for designating the number of poles of a motor, means for generating phase-excitation changeover original signals u4, v4, w4, i48 whose number is equal to or larger than the number of phases of the motor plus 1, and means for converting the phase-excitation changeover original signal into phase-excitation changeover signals (u), (v), (w) adaptive for the designated number of poles of the motor and outputting it. |
