PURPOSE: To provide an oxidation catalyst of gas phase oxidation of organic compounds comprising oxides of molybdenum, phosphorus, and vanadium as principal elements. CONSTITUTION: The gas phase oxidation catalyst is obtained by admixing a catalytically active material or its precursor, a material which chemical composition of Ha Mb Pc Mod Ve Of , or in case of manufacturing catalyst composed of inert additive, with 0.05 to 5 weight % of carbon or of organic fiber having a diameter of 1 to 100μm, and then calcining the above bodies after forming to form channels wither the temperature range of 100 deg.C to 380 deg.C in the presence of oxygen, and after forming the carbon and the organic fiber are burnt out.
