A system for recovering precious metal particles from a slurried soild material by amalgamation comprises an amalgamating apparatus through which a soil material is circulated with the soil material in slurry form and submersed in a body of amalgamating mercury. The system includes a soil material conditioner that provides a slurried soil material having a predetermined small partice size to the amalgamation apparatus. The system also includes a mercury conditioner to purify and charge the mercury for use in the amalgamating mercury body, and includes a mercury amalgam recovery separator. |
