PURPOSE:To discriminate a monochromatic or dichromatic original by dividing an original image into the prescribed plural areas, counting the red picture elements of each divided area, squaring the counted data and comparing the data with the prescribed reference value. CONSTITUTION:In a scanning system, an original set on an original platen glass 18 is scanned with exposure by two photoelectric conversion element in regard of a specific color and other colors. An image signal processing part 20 processes the R and B image signals based on the output of a color photoelectric conversion element 15. Then the part 20 selects a monochromatic copy mode if the red color value is less than a prescribed level and then a dichromatic copy mode vice versa. In the case of a dichromatic mode, the data of the red color is distributed to a 1st laser and the data of other colors to a 2nd laser respectively. In a monochromatic mode, all image data are sent to the 2nd laser. |
