PURPOSE: To measure the remaining capacity of a storage battery without discharging the battery. CONSTITUTION: The remaining capacity of a storage battery (especially a lead- acid battery for valve adjustment) is determined by measuring impedance in usually two or three relatively low frequencies (for example, frequency within the range of 0.001-1.0Hz). In some figure, imaginary number part Z" of complex impedance (Z=Z'+jZ") is plotted to f<-1/2> . An intercept Z0 "(f<-1/2> =0) of the optimum straight line of the plots becomes a yardstick of the remaining capacity of the battery. In other figure, a grade (dZ"/dZ') of the plots of real number part Z' of complex impedance to imaginary number part Z" becomes a yardstick of the remaining capacity of the battery.
