The present invention relates to a method for producing magnesium silicate as an adsorbent. The method comprises 1) introducing 40-45 parts by weight of sodium silicate and 200-220 parts by weight of water to a reactor based on 100 parts by weight of magnesium sulfate to provide a reaction mixture, filtering the reaction mixture through a filter press to obtain cake, drying the cake by an air flow dryer to produce magnesium silicate, and collecting the resultant magnesium silicate as an absorbent. The resultant absorbent has an improved specific surface area and maintains a large surface area per unit volume. Thus, the adsorbent shows excellent adsorption capability to industrial waste water or environmental contaminants, is produced with high yield, and thus can be obtained with low production cost. |
