PURPOSE:To compact ceramic powder with a relatively compact device in a short time and to obtain ceramic spheres free from internal defects by using a stirring granulator, specifying the speed of rotation of stirring blades and compacting ceramic powder while mixing it with a binder. CONSTITUTION:Ceramic powder is put in a vessel 3, a binder (water) is added little by little while rotating stirring blades 2 at >=2.5m/sec peripheral speed and the entire powder is formed into small granules. Small amts. of ceramic powder and water are alternately added to the small granules under high-speed rotation to obtain spheres of <=2mm diameter. These spheres are dried at 120 deg.C and sintered at 1,500 deg.C for 2hr. Uniformly compacted small ceramic spheres having high sphericity can be formed in a short time. |
