PURPOSE: To up-convert a digital video signal of the existing system into that of the high definition system. CONSTITUTION: Pixel data of the existing system are written in a field storage device at a pixel rate of the existing system (frame A). The pixel data are read from the field storage device to generate an intermediate frame (frame B) corresponding to the high definition system. A vertically hatched part of the frame B indicates a received image part and a horizontally hatched part depicts a dummy image part. Then the received image part of the intermediate frame B is moved as shown in a frame C or G in Fig. Finally, the received image part is magnified in the frame C or G so that the length of the received image part becomes equal to a length of one side of an output frame (frames D, E, H). |
