PURPOSE:To make transfer and discharge possible with a single charging equipment to enhance cleaning performance for a photosensitive material and simplify constitution, by providing the charging equipment in the transfer part and by controlling selectively the voltage applied to this charging equipment. CONSTITUTION:Single charging equipment 14 used for transfer and discharge commonly is provided in the transfer part. By controlling selectively the voltage applied to this charging equipment 14, a transfer corona and discharge corona are applied to the picture transfer area, namely, the part to be transferred onto transfer paper 4 and the picture nontranfer area on photosensitive material drum 1 respectively. The charging of trnasfer corona and the discharge corona are applied in this case by closing change-over switch 15 to the 15a or 15b side. As a result, the residual toner is little, and therefore, cleaning dependent upon cleaning unit 6 is easy, and cleaning performance is improved because electricity in the area which is not transferred onto the transfer paper is removed. |
