PURPOSE:To provide a driver for a brushless motor which has a small size and a low cost and in which a discharge resistor is eliminated by consuming regenerative power as an armature copper loss. CONSTITUTION:A driver for a brushless motor comprises means 21 for calculating regenerated power, and current control means 20 for so adding or subtracting torque reactive component current of a motor current during regeneration that an armature copper loss by the motor current corresponds to the calculated regenerated power. The regenerated power is consumed as an armature copper loss to prevent a rise of the DC voltage of a converter during regeneration, i.e., the DC voltage of a smoothing capacitor 11. |
