PURPOSE: To select switching of a peak and mass so as to have an integer step of a constant number every mass peak over mass range, and facilitate the digital selection of the specific mass peak, especially in low mass. CONSTITUTION: In a mass spectrometry method and a mass spectrometer for analyzing a sample 5, a means 1 for producing an ion 6 from the sample 5 and a sector magnetic field 12 for analyzing the ion are contained. The sector magnetic field is formed by passing of magnet current controlled with a digital control signal showing integer sequence produced with a computer. Means 16, 17, 18 for producing magnet current having an exponential relation to the integer sequence are arranged. |
