Date Dec. 13, 1990.The use of mixed hydroxyethers of the general formula I R1O-(CH2CH2O)x-CH2-CH(OH)R2 (I) in which R1 denotes an alkyl group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms R2 denotes an alkyl group having 8 to 20 carbon atoms and x denotes a number in the range from 1 to 20 as auxiliaries for the dehydration of water-containing finely divided solids, gives solids having a low water content without foaming in the water separated therefrom.
