This invention relates to corona discharge treating the surface of polymeric material (e.g., polyethylene, polypropylene, polystrene, polyvinyl chloride, polyester, polymethyl methacrylate, synthetic rubber, natural or synthetic fiber, wood, paper, etc.) to give hydrophilic property. The polymer is corona discharge treated by moving the bed (2) at an uniform speed of 0- 10 cm/sec and simultaneously generating the amplitude of radio frequency oscillator (1) to 0-200 V for 0-10 sec.
