A phamaceutical composition is prepd. by (a) extracting stalk, root, bark or leaves of a elm tree, e.g. Ulmus davididiana Planch, Ulmus parvifolia Jacq., Ulmus macrocarph Hance, etc., with polar solvent, (b) filtering the obtd. extract to obtain the extracted soln., (c) vacuum-concentrating the obtd. soln to obtain the polar solvent extract and (d) reextracting the polar solvent extract with non-polar solvent to obtain the final product. The obtd. phamaceutical composition is useful for the treatment of tumours.
