PURPOSE:To prevent the direct contact between zinc and a heavy metal existing on the surface of a current collecting bar and prevent the generation of hydrogen gas when a battery is stored at a high temperature with lowly amalgamated or unamalgamated zinc by covering part or all of the surface of the current collecting bar kept in contact with a gelatinous negative electrode with a film. CONSTITUTION:A positive electrode mix 2 is made of manganese dioxide, a negative electrode 4 is made of gelatinous zinc, a current collecting bar 5 is inserted into the gelatinous negative electrode 4 to form a cylindrical alkaline- manganese battery, and the current collecting bar 5 is covered with an electric insulating film 9 or a conducting film. The electric insulating film 9 is preferably formed to an optional point B kept in contact with the gelatinous negative electrode 4 from a start point A, and the conducting film is preferably formed on the whole lower section or to the optional point B from the start point A. |
