METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR MONITORING REAL-TIME SYSTEM SOURCE IN DATA PROCESSING SYSTEM

PURPOSE: To present the inside resource utilization factor of a data processing system in a real time in a graphic system resource monitor. CONSTITUTION: The window or view port of a data processing system displays an inside system resource. A monitor system 21 is conceptually divided into a data collecting mechanism 23 and a resource monitor 25. An application programming interface API 27 is used as an interface between those two operating models. A pipe 29 is used as connection between the mechanism 23 and the resource monitor 25. The data collecting mechanism 23 collects important performance data for various traced resources 31. The graphical result of those resource monitors is successively updated in a real time. Those resources can be monitored in the process level of a multiple processing system. Those display can be used by a user for the confirmation, separation, and fine adjustment of the resources of the data processing system in order to improve the integrated efficiency of the monitored system.
