PURPOSE:To efficiently proliferate a sulfur compound-decomposing bacterium capable of decomposing sulfur compounds by proliferating a microorganism in a solution of a water-soluble compound having C-S bond. CONSTITUTION:A microorganism is proliferated in a solution of a water-soluble compound, having C-S bond and composed of preferably dimethyl sulfone, mercaptoethanol, cystine or methyl methanesulfonate. Thereby, the sulfur compound-decomposing bacterium is proliferated.
