EXCITER FOR SYNCHRONOUS GENERATOR

PURPOSE:To eliminate influence of higher harmonics flowing into a generator by taking measure for absorbing higher harmonics in the generator (synchronous generator). CONSTITUTION:A field winding 1 is provided with a higher harmonic injecting circuit 6 connected in parallel with a field circuit 3. The higher harmonic injecting circuit 6 has one line connected through a DC blocking capacitor 7 with the secondary of an auto-transformer 8 for voltage regulation and the other line connected with the common point of the auto-transformer 8. A ripple absorbing capacitor 10 is connected in parallel with a sixth higher harmonic generating source 9. Sixth higher harmonic injected into the field winding produces a combined higher harmonic of (6n-1)th and (6n+1)th in an armature circuit. When the phase of the combined higher harmonic is shifted by 180 deg. from the phase of the combined higher harmonic of (6n-1)th and (6n+1)th, higher harmonics flowing into a power system can be offset.
