PURPOSE:To perform an enlargement/reduction process which satisfies both the resolution of a character part and the smoothness of a photograph area as to a character image which has both a character image and a photograph image, and to improve the throughput of various image processes. CONSTITUTION:An enlargement/reduction address generation part 3 generates addresses XA and MA corresponding to a power variation rate for line buffes(LB) 4 and 5 to read an aimed picture element out of the line buffer(LB) 5 and a corresponding feature quantity (DELTAMAX) out of the line buffer(LB) 4. At the same time, the enlargement/reduction address generation part 3 outputs resampling point position information RAD calculated from the power variation rate to an interpolation process part 7. An enlargement/reduction interpolation parameter calculation part 6 calculates an interpolation parameter FP from the feature quantity (DELTAMAX) and outputs it to the interpolation process part 7. Interpolation characteristics of the enlargement/reduction process are controlled with the interpolation parameter FP calculated by the enlargement/ reduction parameter calculation part. |
