The current rectifier has two input (W1,W2) and two output (P,M) ports and controlled switching devices (T1,T2) between the first input and the first and second output ports. The first device switches from the first input to the first output and the second from the second output to the first input. A first rectifier element (D1) is connected between the second output and second input in the conducting direction. A third rectifier element (D3) is connected between the second output port and the first output port in the conducting direction. USE/ADVANTAGE - For supplying armature and/or field windings of dc machines. Total circuit losses are reduced, esp. at low revolution rates.
