The proposed composition for obtaining a protective antioxidation coating on a carbon, particularly friction, article comprises phosphoric acid, amorphous boron, borosilicate glass with a silicon dioxide-boron oxide content ratio of 1:7 to 3:5, an inert refractory component and a diluent at the following ratio of said components in per cent by weight: phosphoric acid 10-20, borosilicate glass 10-28, amorphous boron 4-16, inert refractory component 1-6, diluent 40-70.
