The invention relates to a cart for transporting heavy objects (Z) on steps, in which in each case a triangular carrier (30), with wheels (31) mounted at its corners, is arranged at the two ends of an axle (13). In order to make transporting loads easier, the axle (13) is coupled via an intermediate gear (16 to 28) to a drive assembly consisting of an electric motor and an electromagnetic brake (14, 15).
