The operation of an assembly to purify and prethicken a suspension, for a following filter press, has an adjusted inflow according to the outflow vol.. The inflow rate is pref. set above the outflow rate, by a given value, or it matches the outflow rate. The level of the inflow excess is set according to the torque or power input at the agitator of the appts., in relation to the outflow, or it is adjusted according to the concn. of solids at the overflow, or the solids content at the lower part or under flow of the appts.. The inflow can also be adjusted according to the vertical measurement of solids concn. in the appts.. A coupling to adjust the inflow according to the outflow rate is pref. placed between the inflow feed and outflow feed. The inflow feed has an electrical control, with a meter for the vol. or rotary counter for the outfow, to set the rotary speed of the inflow feed through measurement signals as the control parameters. The two feeds can be coupled mechanically with a common main drive. A redn. gearing is between the main drive and the feed for the inflow with a differential gearing at the first shaft input and an auxiliary motor at the second shaft input to give a different speed between the feeds. An additional inflow feed adjusts an overflow. ADVANTAGE - The assembly operates in a structured throughput for the max. efficiency of a following assembly which has a discontinuous action.
