Compounds of formula (1), or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, wherein: R0 is OH or a bioprecursor thereof, R?1 is A0CO¿2H, P(Z)(OH)(OR2), SO2H, SO3H or 5-tetrazolyl or a bioprecursor thereof, A0 is CH¿2?, CHF, CF2, CR?3(OR4¿), CO or C(OR5)(OR6), are described as agonists of a cyclic AMP dependent protein kinase. They are useful as medicaments.
