The damping device is for the blade unit (20) of an axial turbine. It includes a damping element (17) in the recess (16) in the blade (10), and a damps vibrations by a friction process. The recess containing the damping element runs in a radial direction through the recess in the blade, and the damping element is fitted radially in this recess.
