A medical treatment device (1), especially for surgical purposes, comprising a treatment instrument in the form of a handpiece (2) connected by a supply conduit (4) to a control device (3), the control device (3) preferably being assigned a media source, especially a source carrying cooling liquid, to which is connected the supply conduit (4) with a flexible line (7a) extending in it or through it, is assigned to a rinsing device (20) having a source of rinsing agent (6) and a collecting tank (45) which can selectively be connected to the flexible line (7, 7a). The invention relates to a method for cleaning the flexible line.
