Hose sleeve moulding - uses a liq. polymer poured into the mould without pressure and hose end is held by a mould core bolt

To form a sleeve of a polymer material at a hose fitted with a thread, of a thermoplastic material, the polymer material is poured into the mould without pressure round the hose end with a core bolt to hold the hose. The material for the sleeve is pref. a two-component polyurethane adhesive, free of solvent. The end of the hose (4) to be fitted with a sleeve (6) is initially fitted to the core bolt of the mould. The sleeve material is then poured into the mould. Alternatively the liq. sleeve material is poured into the mould and then the end of the hose is fitted to the core bolt of the mould. The mould is preheated, and then further heated to shape the sleeve blank. The mould is vibrated while the sleeve material is poured into it, or the sleeve material is poured into the mould under vacuum. The threading (5) of the hose (6) is pref. an electroconductor with a plastic shrouding, where the conductor is led out of the sleeve (6). ADVANTAGE - The method allows a sleeve to be moulded round thin-walled hoses.
