Apparatus for converting digital data defining the colour content of pixels of an image in a first colour space into data defining the image in a second, different colour space suitable for displaying the image. The apparatus comprises dither circuit (2) for adding a dither function which varies with time to the first colour space data and for reducing the colour resolution of the data. A colour converter (3) converts the reduced colour resolution first colour space data to second colour space data. <IMAGE>
