A valve body (14) of a variable throttle valve (13) is connected directly to a gear box (1) of a power steering system so that an outlet port (16) of the variable throttle valve communicates with a return port (30) of the gear box. Such construction permits arrangement of the variable throttle valve with respect to the gear box to be carried out without using any piping, coupling and the like.
