A superconducting wire having a high critical current density in a high magnetic field and an excellent magnetic stability together is provided by finely precipitating a superconductor of stoichiometric composition together with a normal conductor in an amorphous body or a supersaturated solid solution, which produces many filamentary superconductors contained in a metal sheath.
