This utility model relates to a nonwoven network of nanofibers made from a solution of cellulose acetate and binary solvent system. Cellulose acetate is derived from non-wood pulps from agricultural products such as Musa acuminata (banana), Ananas comosus (pineapple) and Musa textilis (abaca). The nanofibers are useful in a variety of medical applications, such as filtration devices, medical prosthesis, scaffolds for tissue engineering, wound dressings, controlled drug delivery systems and other uses as cosmetic skin masks, and for protective clothing, among others. The process for producing the nanofibers by electrospinning is also described herein. |
