VACUUM CARBON ARC METAL REMOVAL PROCESS AND APPARATUS

A process and apparatus for cutting and gouging a workpiece wherein a vacuum is used as the operative molten metal removal force. Isolating the atmosphere surrounding the arc as it melts the workpiece while evacuatinq the atmosphere as the melting proceeds thus facilitating a better cut or gouge with lower process generated noise and removal of process generated fume.
