PURPOSE:To attain the high speed of a picture processing by operating a rough retrieval to an area where an image to be detected is not detected by a means which judges the presence or absence of the image to be detected. CONSTITUTION:The picture data for a horizontal one direction of picture information inputted from a grey scale multilevel part 22 is inputted by an optical center of gravity arithmetic part 23. Then, the inputted picture information is retrieved at every N pieces of picture elements, the retrieved entire picture elements are compared, and a peak value is searched. When the searched peak value is not more than a prescribed value, the picture data in a horizontal direction of a line after J line are inputted. When the first part where the image to be detected exists is retrieved by the above processing, the retrieval is operated at each one line and one picture element. Then, when the existence of the image to be detected is not recognized again, the retrieval at each J line and N picture element is operated. |
