63293-3025 PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF HYDROTREATING CATALYSTS FROM HYDROGELS Process for preparing highly active catalysts by incorporating a nickel compound and a heavy metal selected from the group consisting of molybdenum, tungsten and mixtures thereof into a specifically prepared alumina hydrogel. The final calcined catalysts have surface areas of at least 300 m2/g and at least 70% of the pore volume in pores having diameters less than 7 nm. These catalysts have activities better than catalysts prepared by conventional techniques, when compared on a volumetric basis. They are particularly suitable for tall end hydrocracking and hydrotreating applications in which high desulphurization activities and high hydrogenation abilities are required. |
