OPTICAL FREQUENCY (WAVELENGTH) EXCHANGING SYSTEM AND OPTICAL FREQUENCY (WAVELENGTH) EXCHANGE

PURPOSE:To provide a method for simply converting the frequency (wavelength) of an incident optical wave by using only a light distributor and a filter for selecting frequency (wavelength). CONSTITUTION:A frequency (wavelength) distributor 12 distributes incident light 11 in each area and a variable frequency (wavelength) filter 13 selects frequency (wavelength) to be outputted. Namely a distribution network type optical exchange system is adopted in the frequency (wavelength) area. Since the optical frequency (wavelength) converter for optionally converting optical frequency (wavelength) by a simple parts constitution independently of an optical signal modulating format can be obtained, a large capacity light exchange in an optical information processing/optical transmission system can easily be constituted.
