PURPOSE:To prevent the execution of error operation even when a peripheral environment is dark by providing this remote control device with a brightness detecting means for detecting the brigthness of a peripheral environment, a ligthing means for lighting up the whole part or a necessary part and a human body approach detecting means for detecting the approach of a human body. CONSTITUTION:The remove control device is provided with a key operation part 11 to be operated by a user, a CPU part 12 for forming a command signal corresponding to keyed data, a light emitting part 13 such as an LED for transmitting infrared rays e.g. to a controlled device based upon the command signal, a brightness detector 15 using cadmium sulfate or the like for detecting the brightness of a peripheral environment, and a pyroelectric detector 14 for detecting the approach of the user to the remote control device. The whole key operation part 11 is illuminated by an illumination 16 based upon the detection results of the detectors 15, 14 and a necessary key switch on the key operation part 11 is turned on and off by an LED 17. |
