An electrically programmable read only memory device is equipped with a regular memory cell array associated with word lines and various peripheral units such as address decoding units for carrying out a usual mode of operation on the regular memory cell array, and dummy memory cells are coupled to the word lines at random for a testing operation on the address decoding units so as to find whether or not the address decoding units concurrently selects more than one row or column of the regular memory cells without rewriting data bits. |
