ACTIVE OPTICAL STAR NETWORK

摘要

PURPOSE:To compensate the loss of an optical star coupler by connecting a terminal equipment to plural terminals at one side of the optical star coupler and inserting an optical amplifier between a couples of other terminals. CONSTITUTION:When an optical signal is outputted from terminal equipments 11-13, the optical signal enters one terminal of an optical star coupler 21 via transmission use optical fibers 41-43 and is mixed with a coupling section and goes to all terminals of the other side. Since an optical amplifier 71 is connected to a couple of the terminals via optical fibers 61, 62, the optical signal is sent to the optical amplifier 71 through the optical fiber 61 and amplified therein. The optical signal amplified through the optical amplifier 71 returns to the star coupler 21 via the optical fiber 62 and mixed at a re-coupling section and the result is sent through optical fibers 41-43, 51-53 and reaches all the terminal equipments 11-13 including itself.
