PICTURE CODING METHOD AND PICTURE CODER

摘要

PURPOSE:To obtain the highly efficient picture coding method and picture coder without incurring deterioration in picture quality with respect to the picture coding method and picture coder used for compressing, sending and recording a digital picture. CONSTITUTION:In the method for coding processing a picture signal, a contour in a picture signal is detected and the coding compression method is controlled to a picture area within a prescribed range including the contour and the picture quality is improved by reducing coding noise generated in the contour and a surrounding part of the contour. Furthermore, the picture coder comprising a means 1 detecting the contour in the picture signal and a coding controller 2 controlling the coding compression method to the picture area within a prescribed range including the contour detected by the means 1 detecting the contour realizes the picture coding method.
