PURPOSE:To provide a power converter which enables the miniaturization of a snubber circuit by increasing the quantity of regeneration compared with a conventional circuit. CONSTITUTION:In a power converter wherein a series of self arc-extinguishing semiconductor switching elements 11 and 12 is connected to a power source 1, this is one which is equipped with a capacitive element 31 being charged above power source voltage by either snubber action of the self arc-extinguishing semiconductor switching elements 11 and 12 and circuit regenerating the charge in the power source 1. Hereby, a power converter capable of reduction of snubber loss can be constituted by a capacitance around the of net capacitance required, comparing with a conventional example, the circuit can be constituted with one-tenth or less capacitance, and the power converter can be miniaturized. |
