The purpose of the present invention is to provide a yeast that has been genetically modified for greater mass production of glutathione, and a method for producing glutathione using the yeast. Provided is a method for producing glutathione, characterized in that a yeast having an increased thiol oxidase activity when compared to a parent strain is cultured in a culture medium to produce glutathione and then the glutathione is recovered from the resulting culture solution.
