PURPOSE:To obtain the stable oxide superconductor having the supercondution transition temp. sufficiently higher than a liquid nitrogen temp. at a high yield in a short period of time by subjecting a prescribed raw material powder mixture to a hot isostatic pressurization treatment under specific conditions in an atmosphere mixture composed of an inert gas and gaseous oxygen. CONSTITUTION:The raw material powder mixture for production of the oxide superconductor consisting of R (where R is >=1 kind selected from Y and lanthanide rare earth elements), Ca, Ba, Cu, O is subjected to the hot isostatic pressurization (HIP) treatment in a temp. range of 850 to 1100 deg.C in the atmosphere mixture composed of the inert gas and the gaseous oxygen, by which the oxide superconductor contg. the oxide expressed by formula II (X is 0.001 to 0.5) is formed without forming the oxide as the intermediate product expressed by formula I before the HIP treatment. In the said method, (1) the superconductor may be formed by previously mixing the raw material powdery, then forming the mixture into a thin film or wire and subjecting the film or wire to the HIP treatment or (2) the superconductor may be formed by executing the HIP treatment in a powdery state and thereafter, the superconductor may be made into the thin film or wire. |
