<p>PURPOSE:To remarkably improve the production efficiency of the subject substance by culturing a cellulose-producing microbial strain in a standing culture apparatus having the bottom part of the apparatus made of an oxygen- diffusible hydrophobic material, thereby supplying oxygen even to the culture liquid at the bottom of the apparatus. CONSTITUTION:A microbial strain capable of producing cellulose (e.g. Acetobacter pasteurianus ATCC 10245) is cultured by standing culture in a standing culture apparatus 1 having the bottom part 2 made of an oxygen- diffusible hydrophobic material (preferably polytetrafluoroethylene, polyethylene, etc.). A supporting member 3 such as stainless steel net and ceramic mesh plate is preferably placed under the hydrophobic material of the bottom 2 of the apparatus.</p> |
