PURPOSE:To improve durability by reducing a load of a synchronizing mechanism at down shift time of applying a large synchronizing load, in a transmission for a vehicle provided with a subspeed change mechanism. CONSTITUTION:A main speed change gear train Gm is provided between a gear shaft 13, supported to an input shaft Ms and connectable thereto by a hydraulic clutch 14, and an output shaft Cs, to provide a subspeed change gear train Gs of reducing a rotational speed of the input shaft Ms made transmittable to a gear shaft 13 and a one-way clutch 39 for permitting an overspeed in a side of the gear shaft 13, on a subshaft Ss. In the case of establishing a predetermined forward speed change shift through synchronizing mechanisms S1, S2, the hydraulic clutch 14 is forced to be disconnected to interrupt an interlocking relation between the gear shaft 13 and the input shaft Ms. In this way, the synchronizing mechanisms S1, S2 are only required to synchronize the gear shaft 13 with only rotation of the subspeed change gear train Gs without synchronizing rotation of the input shaft Ms, and reduction of a synchronizing load is attained. |
